Physician Housing Near UCLA Health and Cedars-Sinai
How physicians should choose housing when the week is split between UCLA Health in Westwood and Cedars-Sinai.

I. Two hospitals, two geographies
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and the UCLA campus sit in Westwood. Cedars-Sinai sits to the east, in the Beverly Grove and mid-city edge, not in Santa Monica and not in Brentwood. A single dreamy Westside house can fail both commutes.
Pick the heavier clinical day. If most starts are at UCLA, live in Westwood or just south of it. If most starts are at Cedars, live closer to Beverly Hills, Century City, or the streets that reach Beverly Boulevard without a cross-town performance.
II. Split weeks need a midpoint that is honest
Century City and the Beverly Hills flats are the usual compromise when both campuses are truly in the week. Sawtelle can work for UCLA-heavy weeks that still owe Cedars a day. It is a weaker Cedars default.
Do not use Pacific Palisades or Marina del Rey as a split. The coast adds nothing to a call schedule.
- UCLA-primary: north of Wilshire in Westwood, or a short drive from Brentwood if the household needs a house.
- Cedars-primary: Beverly Hills flats, Century City, or a carefully chosen Beverly Grove adjacent building.
- True split: Century City or the Beverly Hills flats, then test both morning doors.
- Night shifts need blackout and a parking stall that works at 5 a.m., which is a furnishing and access issue, not a neighborhood brand.

III. The stay has to survive a clinical calendar
Laundry, a quiet bedroom, blackout, and a path to the car that does not depend on a valet breakfast are the executive-housing version of fitness for physicians. Views are optional.
Fellows and visiting attendings often have fixed end dates. The lease should match the appointment, including a possible extension if credentialing or a contract slips.
IV. Keep the wider healthcare map available
If the role also touches campuses outside the Westside, use the citywide healthcare neighborhood guide before assuming Westwood solves Los Angeles. This page is only the UCLA and Cedars pair.
Name both doors in the first email so the shortlist is not a generic doctor-in-LA set.
Frequently
Considered
Common inquiries tied to relocation fit, executive comfort, and the details clients usually want clarified before they commit to a direction.
Can one home serve both UCLA and Cedars well?
A Century City or Beverly Hills flats address can serve both acceptably for many schedules. It will not be the best door for either. If one hospital dominates, live closer to that one.
Is Westwood housing only for people walking to campus?
No. Many physician stays drive and park. The point of Westwood is a short, repeatable trip to the medical center, not a romantic walk across campus after a night shift.
What should a department coordinator send?
The primary hospital, the rough mix of days, the appointment dates, and whether the physician is solo. Those facts matter more than a preferred zip code.
